MoDOT has released that they are expected to close the stretch of Highway 40 between Kingshighway and Forest Park Parkway in both directions beginning at 8pm Friday to remove two bridges.
Work crews will remove the bridges carrying Taylor and Newstead avenues over Highway 40 in order to rebuild them.
The ramps from McCausland/Skinker, Hampton and Kingshighway to eastbound I-64 will be closed during this time. In addition, the ramps from Pine, Jefferson, Market and Grand to westbound I-64 will be closed during this time.
According to MoDOT, the closure is weather permitting, and may be delayed due to temperatures or significant precipitation.
Drivers traveling westbound on Highway 40 will have to turn off the highway at Forest Park Avenue and follow it to Kings-highway, which leads back to the highway.
Eastbound travelers will be diverted from the highway at Hampton Avenue to Interstate 44.
The highway is scheduled to reopen at 3 a.m. Monday.
