So what exactly is success? I take a holistic approach to success, meaning if you're not mentally, spiritually, emotionally, physically & financially happy, healthy, peaceful and whole, then I'm not successful in my life. Success, for me, is not just about external, material gain; it's about wholeness, its about inner peace & joy as well, and I believe that comes from walking in your life's purpose.
If you are not clear about what you need to be doing in life in order to be a holistically happy, healthy and peaceful person, then it could be easy for you to get pulled into things that have nothing to do with your purpose, which will lead you further from success than you may realize.
I speak a lot about purpose because it seems that those who are grounded in their purpose are the happiest and most at peace! Once you know it, your purpose is your guide, compass and decision maker. You base every decision off of whether or not it lines up with your purpose.
So how do you find it if you don’t know it? Consistently pray for it to be revealed, meditate on it being revealed, and follow your highest joy and excitement, with integrity. I know from experience that when you know what your purpose is and commit to engaging in tasks that carry out this purpose daily, you experience an inner peace that explodes into joy! It really is unexplainable. I guess that’s God’s way of letting us know when we’re on the purposeful track. It’s not the amount of knowledge, power or wealth that you accumulate that makes you a success; it’s the amount of inner peace, joy and fulfillment that you have.
Therefore success, in my eyes, means walking in your purpose, because this is what brings such inner peace and fulfillment. People can have wealth, fame and power and still be miserable, that’s not desirable to me. What good is it if you can’t completely enjoy the fruits of your life decisions? I don’t want partial prosperity, I want total prosperity and when you use inner peace and fulfillment as your gauge, you end up making purposeful choices that lead to this total prosperity, which is success. However, many of us live day to day without thinking much at all about our purpose.
Most of us live our lives like it’s only about acquiring lots of money or just being able to pay the bills. But think about it. Why are you here? What is the point of your life? For what reason do you exist? I believe that everyone and everything serves some sort of purpose in the grand scheme of the universe and when you live your life according to this purpose, you will be at peace and fulfilled as a result and therefore a success! -love, sj
