Many times people go through experiences that leave them feeling confused, angry and disappointed. And in most cases, these feelings are understandable. What’s not always clear is why we go through certain experiences in our lives. I’ve learned that when we understand the ‘why’ behind the ‘what,’ the negative feelings go away. I read something somewhere that says, “in all thy getting, get an understanding.”
Why should you go through something that you perceive to be negative, when it may actually be quite positive and beneficial? If we understood the purpose of the people and circumstances in our lives it would totally change the way we experience them. You can save yourself a ton of emotional, mental and physical anguish by simply understanding what it is that is actually happening. Ten times out of ten, there is a lesson to learn and by learning the lesson you grow into a stronger, wiser and more peaceful person.
Take a moment to think about every person in your life. These people are both your teachers and your students. They are in your life to teach you something. Then take a moment to think about every situation that you have been experiencing lately. These are your teachers as well. Then take a moment to think about yourself. How are you experiencing yourself regarding each person and each situation in your life? Then ask yourself, “what am I learning?”
Life is about learning and growing. The reason we go through the same negative experiences time after time is because we are not learning what we need to in order to eliminate those negative things from happening. Examine your life, find your lessons and learn from them so that you can move on from here. -love, sj
