(msn)Ed Denst, 77, has been homeless for 23 years, but that didn't stop the ex-Marine from making a recent charitable donation.
According to CBS Los Angeles, Denst donated $250 he'd collected to Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Council of Los Angeles, a Catholic charity that has helped feed him for more than 19 years.
"I thought about giving back. (It) makes me feel very good,” Denst told CBS-LA.
Claire Padama, the board president of the charity who's known Denst for almost two decades, said she was "shocked" when she found out about his donation.
"I think that's more meaningful than those people who have a lot,” she said.
The money will be used to help those who need rental or utility assistance, Padama added.
