NFL linebacker Jovan Belcher, 25, left his 4-month-old baby girl Zoey Belcher without parents on Dec. 1 when he shot himself in the head after killing his girlfriend and baby’s mom Kassandra Perkins, 22, in a shocking murder-suicide.
Now, each of Zoey’s grandma’s — the Kansas City Chiefs linebacker’s mother Cheryl Shepherd and Kassandra’s mother Rebecca Gonzalez – are fighting each other for custody of their orphaned granddaughter.
Polie awarded temporary custody to Cheryl, who cared for the baby in Jovan’s Long Island hometown. But Cheryl told police she sent little Zoey to Texas to stay with Rebecca and her family so she could attend Kassandra’s funeral — and she hasn’t seen the baby girl since. Read more here
