Dear Tony,
I'm a female in my mid thirties that has never had a relationship with my biological father who lives in the same city that I reside and I've heard that he actually claims me as his daughter. I've seen him about 3 times. Once when I was about 4 or 5, again when I was in the 7th grade and the last time was probably about 7 years ago. About 7 years ago, I drove to his house called his cell phone and told him that I was outside. He came out, we talked and exchanged numbers. We agreed to get a DNA test (at his expense) so that I could finally know who I was. But, here's where the problem comes in. The day I was supposed to meet him with the paperwork, he stood me up to be with his son that was seven at the time. Later that evening and the next morning he kept calling my house and I ignored his calls until the next morning. I told him that I decided that I didn't want to take the test anymore and his response was "if you change your mind, you know how to get in contact with me". He never asked why I changed my mind and I didn't volunteer the information. I've decided that it's actually too late for a relationship between us, but I feel that I deserve to know the truth especially if he's telling people that I'm his daughter. What do you think?
